The beauty and skincare market is notoriously crowded. As an innovative leader in the space, L’Oréal’s Garnier needed to elevate its Pure Active 3-in-1 face wash in South Africa, positioning it as the ultimate, simple solution for blemish-free skin.

The goal wasn't just to generate impressions; Garnier needed to drive genuine product awareness and active consideration among a highly discerning, digital-first youth audience. To capture their attention, Garnier had to speak their language—and there was no better battleground for this than TikTok.

Amplifying Authentic Creator Voices (UGC)

Traditional, glossy skincare ads wouldn't work here. Conscious of the need to slice through the noise, we pivoted to a strategy powered by TikTok's most valuable asset: its diverse and deeply creative community.

Instead of talking at the audience, we handed them the mic. We partnered with 11 dynamic TikTok creators, tasking them with demonstrating the product’s 3-in-1 versatility through their own genuine, relatable daily routines.

To turn this authentic User-Generated Content (UGC) into a performance engine, we supercharged the creator videos with highly targeted in-feed ads. This guaranteed massive reach and deep engagement while perfectly blending into the native TikTok experience.

Building Trust That Drives Conversion

Garnier campaign cut through the clutter and had good branding and creative performance. Leveraging the power of TikTok creators helped the brand achieve its initial objectives of awareness and consideration, increasing total product awareness for the Garnier Pure Active 3in1 range by 37%, and increasing its purchase intent by 40%, according to the brand lift study.

The honesty in which creators showcased the product also had an extremely positive effect on brand trust, increasing it by +25%, and as a result, boosting the brand's perception as a brand who understands its customers' needs, is built for the youth, and takes care of people's skin. 

The audience found the content fun and enjoyable, around 2 in 5 have purchased the brand in the 3 months after the campaign. Furthermore, the campaign has also contributed to great lift in awareness of Garnier Pure Active 3-in-1 and led to increase in all KPIs further proving that handing creators the mic and allowing them to create content for our brands makes for more likeable, interesting and enjoyable content that encourages people to act.
